The semester is well underway, but it is not too late to establish some new habits to replace old ones that are not serving you well. If even the thought of writing makes you anxious or if you tend to write your papers late or at the last minute, this workshop is for you. Through presentation, discussion, and writing, this workshop will help you find ways to write with greater ease, as well as to get out of your own way and get down to work. Taught by Kristen Brookes (Writing Associate). Guy Deutscher, professor of linguistics at the University of Leiden, will deliver a lecture concerning what can be salvaged from linguistic relativity. "The English of today is not what it used to be," says Deutscher, "but then again, it never was." This lecture is co-sponsored by the Departments of Classics and Psychology and the Cummings Fund and is free and open to the public.

Students considering careers in law are encouraged to attend "Career Options for Law School Graduates." The featured presenter for this Webinar is Ari Kaplan, author of the Amazon.com bestseller "The Opportunity Maker: Strategies for Inspiring Your Legal Career Through Creative Networking and Business Development." He regularly travels across the U.S. presenting to law students, law firms and bar associations. Kaplan practiced law with large firms in New York City for nearly nine years and is admitted to the bar in New York, New Jersey and Washington, D.C. Also presenting at this Webinar is Elliot Spoon, assistant dean of career development and professor of law at MSU College of Law.

Johnny Cardinale is a Los Angeles-based comedian who started his career at the world-famous Comedy Store in Hollywood. Cardinale has since gone on to perform at all the major clubs in Los Angeles, write and direct a short film that screened at Cannes ("American Beauty X" which can be viewed at Ifilm.com) and has hosted “Clean Shots” on the Game Show Network. He has also been featured on the Emmy Awards in a spoof of the hit show “Heroes”, and on “Chelsea Lately” on E!. Don't miss you chance to see Johnny Cardianle live and in person!
