| 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. | Study Science Abroad with Operation Wallace: Information Table Keefe Campus CenterScience majors considering studying abroad are encouraged to stop by this information table and visit the representative from Operation Wallace. They offer scientific conservation expeditions to Indonesia, Honduras, Egypt, Cuba, Peru and South Africa. Learn more on Monday, Nov. 2, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Campus Center atrium. Operation Wallacea was established in 1995 SE Sulawesi, Indonesia. Along with our continued work in Indonesia we have since set up and managed projects for university volunteers and research assistants in: Honduras, Cuba, Peru, South Africa, Mozambique and Egypt. In 2010 we are adding an expedition to Madagascar. We have a huge range of research positions, thesis projects and course credit options available (see www.opwall.com) for summer 2010. If you are at all interested in trekking through the rainforests of Indonesia, spotting Tapir poo in Honduras, sailing down the Amazon spotting pink river dolphins in Peru, assisting with the manatee projects in Cuba, diving with 30m visibility in the red sea, Egypt or Helping to collect data to establish a new Nation Park in Madagascar or tracking elephants in South Africa then please come along to our presentation. |

| 4:30 p.m. | The Troy Davis Case: A Lecture on the Death Penalty Fayerweather HallThe Amnesty International Student Chapter will be hosting Martina Correia-- Troy Davis' sister, the co-State Death Penalty Abolition Coordinator (SDPAC) for Georgia and chairperson of Georgia CURE (Citizens United for the Rehabilitation Of Errants) --on Monday, Nov. 2, in Pruyne Lecture Hall at 4:30 p.m. Correia will talk about her experience as an anti-death-penalty activist and the death penalty system in the USA. After the lecture, Amnesty International will be having a candlelight vigil in front of Valentine. Come and show your support for Troy Davis and Amnesty's "Abolish the Death Penalty" campaign. |

| 9:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. | Gumball Challenge Dessert Kickoff Center for Community EngagementStop by the CCE to enjoy brownies and other goodies between 9 and 10 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2. The Gumball Challenge is a social entrepreneurial competition. Each team is given $27, 27 gumballs and one week to come up with a business plan and implement it. The profits are then invested in developing-world entrepreneurs and teams are rewarded for their efforts. The Amherst competition is Nov. 5-12, with a special dessert launch on Nov. 2. Team registration is in Keefe Nov. 2-4. Every participant receives a free T-shirt. |
