12:00 p.m.-1:30 p.m.Next Teaching and Advising Lunch Lewis-Sebring Commons
Students increasingly arrive at Amherst unprepared for the close reading of written texts and unable to produce logically organized and argued essays. Many students have turned to the Black Studies Department, which builds these skills into its core courses. Rhonda Cobham-Sanders and Hilary Moss will discuss the department's approach to developing students' skills and self-confidence. Please join them at the next faculty lunch in the Mullins and Faerber Rooms of the Lewis-Sebring Dining Commons on Friday, Nov. 13 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at noon. Come join the discussion. Contact Amrita Basu with any questions and suggestions.

Students considering a career in education are encouraged to attend the Graduate Schools in Education Panel. The panel will consist of representatives from a variety of well-respected graduate programs, including some students currently enrolled in those programs. The following institutions will be represented on the panel: Harvard, Brandeis, Brown, Columbia, Smith, Yale and UMass Amherst. We hope you will join us!

A darkly comic exploration of Shakespeare’s "A Midsummer Night’s Dream." Four young adults on the verge of growing up lose themselves for a night in a world of love, lust and fairies. They manipulate each other and get manipulated. They fall in and out of love. They have the most ridiculous night ever, and they can’t remember a thing in the morning. "Midsummer" uses Shakespeare’s language to tell a hysterically true story about anyone and everyone. Tickets are free, and reservations are recommended. Call the Box Office at 413-542-2277.
